Galactic Cluster
Constellation: Cassiopeia
Messier discovered this bad boy in 1774.
Sometimes described as a “salt and pepper” cluster with its approx 200 bright stars, this cluster is aged at about 23 million years.   Astronomers are not really certain about how far this guy is from us.  Due to light absorption, some think it could be 3,000 light-years with others thinking it is over twice that far at 7,000.
