Intermediate spiral galaxy
Constellation: Leo
Charles Messier discovered this
one along with two others (M66, and NGC3628) in 1780. M65 is part
of what is called the Leo Triplet and is approx 35 million light-years
from earth.
This is a older galaxy, as we see
that there are a high ratio of old stars to new. Also, the galaxy
is showing its age by the low amount of dust and gas associated with
it.
